Term 4 Zentangle Sculpture

This term we have been squeezing in art group with many other things happening in school.

We first looked at zentangle designs and had a go at creating some within spaces.  We then transferred these designs onto our white recycled timber offcuts.

Over the next weeks we have painted the designs with black house paint.  We have found this tricky and we had to work slowly.

Whatch this space to see what we make with them.

Our Term 3 Project

Mrs Ray spray painted our inside flower parts, and a blackboard to mount our flowers on.  She glued/screwed them all together and Brenda mounted our art in a weather-proof and safe place, outside Room 2.

We are really proud of our flowers and think they look really effective.  We are excited about next term's project.

Finishing Our Flowers

We spent a least 2 sessions getting our painting done on our flowers.  We found it tricky to paint down inside the flower and to stay straight with our lines.

Then the next session we got to coat them in varnish to protect the paint.  We had to do 2 coats inside and out.

Colours!!!

Today we were really excited to begin painting our Piet Mondrian inspired designs onto our petals.  We found his designs really easy to replicate but it was a bit tricky drawing lines on curved petals.

We then talked about the colour wheel before we used the primary colours on our flowers.  We really loved using the colour! Black detail next week!

Top Coat!

Today we got to paint on the top coat of white onto our flowers.  We had to be careful to not get paint everywhere as it is tricky to get off!

Sanding and Undercoating

On Friday we met again for the 2nd time.  We had to sand all of our flowers so that the paint will stick to them.  After we did this we carefully undercoated them with special paint, and on our own painting stations made from polystyrene.  We left them to dry for the weekend.

Project 1

On Friday we had our first creative time together.  We learnt about an artist called Piet Mondrian and decided together to make Pukete even better through some pretty cool visual art.

We began our creative adventure by taking some recycled bottles and cutting them into the shape of flowers.....

we will see what we do with these next week.
